Barbara has had trouble with the headlights on her car staying on. Even after shutting the car off. Barbara would have to disconnect battery every time she left the car.
The Ford garage checked the switches and found nothing wrong. Just half an hour on the Interwebs and I found that the "Daylight Running Lights" sensor was a likely candidate. It appears that the unit has a constant power source even when the ignition is turned off.
I was looking further into where this unit is and whether it would be easy for Barbara to unplug.
Barbara left me a message saying that the problem had been fixed.
"headlights are 'fixed' the highbeams were the problem, fuse kept them locked on and the relay wouldnt account for them being off"
On the phone I was able to sort out that it was indeed the "DRL" unit that was at fault. Simply unplugging the unit was sufficient to turn the lights off. Now the lights aren't on during the day but that's not a legal requirement so we're all good.
