How did you come to start your LJ?
Before there were social networks and blogs there were "guest books". Guest books were a method for commenting on the content of a web site. Following links from links on my own guest book lead me to someone on LiveJournal and this seemed a lot easier to maintain than a full web site.
How did you find your first friends?
My first few friends I added after looking for people in the same area as me as well as convincing some existing friends to get LJ accounts.
Are those first friends still on your FL?
Yup, still most of them still around.
How long have you been on LJ?
Since October 2001
Do you have more friends or communities on your FL?
More friends
Do you do a lot of friends cuts?
No though I may use filters when friends are stuck on a subject that I'm not interested in. But I still want them to be able to see my Friends Only posts.
What do you like in an LJ friend?
Not too needy, varied style of posts, not too much drama
What do you dislike?
Needy people with lots of drama, every other post telling you how lucky you are that you made their latest friends cut because of drama. LJ should be about life, not about LJ (yes I see the irony of this answer)
What would make you unfriend someone immediately?
It would have to be a real change of character since I don't friend people randomly.
Have you been caught up in a lot of LJ drama?
Nope.
Do RL friends and family members know you have a journal on LJ?
Yup.
Do you also have Facebook and if so, what do you prefer – LJ or FB?
They're two different beasts.
What about Twitter?
Twitter is "opt in instant messenger".
Do you blog on any other sites?
The same content spread across Blogger, Wordpress and LJ.
How often do you check in on LJ?
Daily
What do you rarely or never post about?
There's nothing that I can think of that I haven't posted about but it's the level of detail that is the point. I may touch the surface of a subject but not delve to deep.
Why don’t you post about that?
I'm aware that there's I've written a lot of "stuff" on the Internet and wouldn't want a job interview to suffer because I'd said something offensive in a journal post.
Have you ever thought about deleting your journal?
Nope.
Have you ever changed your username?
Nope.
Why did you choose your current username?
Daz = Darren
71 = 1971, year of my birth
If you’re looking for new friends, how do you find them?
Friends of friends or interesting comments either in my journal or those of my friends.
Are you taking new people on to your Friends List just now?
I’m always open to having friends on here…
Finally, tell us the reasons why you keep an online journal.
Same reason I'd keep a hand written one, I like to look back every now and again.
